What is Krav Maga?

Krav maga is a fighting style designed for efficiency. Emphasis is placed on immediate counter and pre-emptive attacks that can neutralize a situation before it ever has a chance to escalate. The fighting style embodies the expression ‘offense is the best defense’ but aims to essentially minimize violence through this approach.

As you progress and become more experienced, you’ll learn to attack the most vulnerable points around the body, including the neck, throat, face, solar plexus, groin, ribs and pressure points.

Krav Maga was originally developed by Imre Lichtenfeld who was born in Budapest, 1910. Lichtenfeld developed his approach to self-defense and physical fitness while serving in the IDF over 20 years. Today, Krav Maga is an important part of Israeli military training, which is a testament to its effectiveness. It is used regularly by special units and reconnaissance brigades but has also become popular as a form of self-defense outside of the military setting as well as in sports and competition.
